What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a natural and gentle but effective way to treat all kinds of emotional, nervous or psychological problems. It is a combination of psychotherapy techniques and hypnosis.
Many people believe that hypnotherapy is something that is ‘magically done to them’. That they explain their issue to the therapist who then simply hypnotises their problem away, as if by magic. Unfortunately, it’s not like that.
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a much more collaborative process and it’s really important to understand that change happens because you want it to and because you are prepared to take the necessary steps to allow it to happen.
During our first session we’ll discuss what you would like to achieve, how hypnotherapy can help you and how many sessions you are likely to need.
Your subsequent sessions comprise of two parts; during the first part we’ll talk about the progress you have made and focus on positive solutions. Then I will guide you into a relaxed state of hypnosis. This is also known as ‘trance’. In the state of trance your subconscious mind becomes more receptive to beneficial suggestions, accepting directions to promote positive change. Brain waves change during this process, so we become more focused. You remain awake and in control. It’s a very relaxing and enjoyable experience.
It is important to realise that you need to want the change to happen and be willing to undertake a course of sessions, thereby working with me to bring about that change.
